90 Days Reflections of Christ

Introduction

Dear Ward Family,

The ward leadership presents "90 Days Reflections of Jesus Christ". This work has been thoughtfully prepared with the intent of seeking a deeper connection with the Lord Jesus Christ. We invite you to follow this program for the next 90 days. In so doing, it is our hope that you will become better acquainted with the Savior, your faith in God and Jesus Christ will increase, and you will develop an increased testimony of the Savior and His restored gospel.

We do not have to be perfect to know the Savior. While Jesus was on the earth he associated with sinners. His disciples asked him why he associated with such people. Jesus responded with a beautiful and simple answer: “They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick.” (Mark 2:17)

The Lord does not ask us to heal ourselves of imperfections before we approach Him. Rather, he beckons us to come to Him with those imperfections that He may help us overcome them. The Lord loves us and wants us to surmount sin. He will help us as we exercise our free agency and seek to draw closer to Him daily. We, however, must initiate the process of repentance and strive with all our might to overcome our weaknesses. Each of us can know the Savior of the world.

The Savior’s teachings are to be studied and referenced in our thinking and our actions. This work is designed to help you to be nearer to the Savior and to truly know Him; to see Him in all aspects of your life. In short, to help you truly become something more.

Be deliberate and be consistent! Great things come from doing good things regularly. You wouldn’t consider good results if you only brushed your teeth once a week, would you? Good results come from brushing regularly. So it is with personal prayer, scripture study and church attendance: the value comes from doing these things often!

Daily: Focus from five to 20 minutes daily doing some of the following:

Regular personal prayer. Pray more earnestly for a burning spirit of testimony and love for your family and ward members, especially those who are struggling with one thing or another. Be mindful of those to whom you minister. Pray for the desire and the assistance necessary to overcome personal weaknesses. Our challenge is to move our prayers from the easy and casual to sincere petitions to our Heavenly Father.

Schedule a time each day to read the scriptures with the goal in mind of completing Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John prior to April 2024. That which is scheduled gets done. President Spencer W. Kimball said, “I find that when I get casual in my relationships with divinity and when it seems that no divine ear is listening and no divine voice is speaking, that I am far, far away. If I immerse myself in the scriptures the distance narrows and the spirituality returns.”

Identify in your reading the attributes of the Savior. Write them down and reflect on them. As the Primary song teaches us “Try, try to be like him.”

Study the Savior's ministry, teaching, miracles, and atonement.

Ponder and meditate about the blessings you enjoy. Rejoice in the blessings you have.

Ask Heavenly Father: is there someone you can help today?

Keep the commandments and have the courage to ask the Lord “What lack I yet?” Then be ready for the Lord to lead you.

Weekly:

Have family home evening. We would like you to consider spending the next several weeks learning more about the Savior in FHE. An outline of possible topics is listed on the next page.

Be more diligent in your church calling.

Take time to exercise physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Monthly:

100 % Quality Ministering.

Learn something new about those to whom you minister. Improve the spiritual quality of your Ministering: Put extra effort into a special lesson or an uplifting text message. Collaborate with your companion and pray about the message you will bring and the good works you will do. Pray for your ministering families by name.

Attend the Temple monthly or prepare to get your temple recommend.

Fast for the needs of someone else on fast Sunday.

Brothers and Sisters, we have every confidence that progress toward a more meaningful connection with the Savior will result in our hearts being turned toward Him. You will become something more; you will find greater peace in your life; your confidence will be increased; love for self and others will expand, and your life will change for the better.

Sincerely,

Ward Council
